NSW Rural Assistance Authority - Farm Innovation Fund.

The Rural Assistance Authority administers a Farm Innovation Fund designed to help NSW farmers ensure long term productivity and sustainable land use. Loans of up to $250,000 are available for permanent capital works in four main categories:

  1. Drought preparedness, including stock and domestic water supply, ground tank maintenance and perennial pasture establishment
  2. Environment, including soil conservation and erosion control works, solar power conversions and control of woody or noxious weeds
  3. Farm Infrastructure, including fodder storage, sheds, fencing/roadwork and new or upgraded irrigation systems
  4. Natural resources, including strategic tree planting, control of livestock effluent, exclusion fencing for sensitive areas and disaster mitigation works.

Unlike programs such as the Sustaining the Basin Irrigated Farm Modernisation program, these loans do not require irrigation farmers to surrender water entitlements in return for capital works funding.

Further information about the Rural Assistance Authority's Farm Innovation Fund is available from their website www.raa.nsw.gov.au/assistance/farm-innovation-fund
